Quang Binh (VNA) – Visitors to Phong Nha-Ke Bang, the area in the central province of Quang Binh that includes the world’s biggest cave Son Doong, will be able to get online with a new free public wifi network.
The ‘Phong Nha-Free wifi’ is ready for up to 1,000 internet users at the same time. According to the province’s Department of Tourism, the wifi network is to facilitate the development of “smart tourism” in the province.
Eight wifi stations were built in townships and villages around Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park to supply coverage to 100m around the station.
Oxalis Adventure, the sole caving tour operator to Son Doong cave, sponsored the cost of installation and operation of the network.
The department and the sponsor hope that visitors to Phong Nha-Ke Bang will have easier online connections during their stay in the area as well as promoting local tourism services online.
Phong Nha-Ke Bang is a national park with rich biodiversity located in Quang Binh. It is a UNESCO’s world heritage site. The park is also home to many famous karst caves including Son Doong, Tu Lan, Hang En, Thien Duong and Phong Nha. – VNA
